My Hero’s Journey: From Hospitality to Soulful Global Impact

Early spark: hospitality in my blood

I was born in Paris, but at the age of seven, my father decided we’d swap Paris for the warmth of the South of France to open a restaurant in Grasse. From that moment on, I was carrying plates and charming customers, much to the dismay of my brothers, who didn’t quite share my popularity!

When you grow up in hospitality, you either love it or hate it. For all my sins, I loved it, every bit of it. The energy, the people, the joy of serving good food and wine, and the pleasure of seeing customers return again and again.

Following the dream: travel, Disney, and CX magic

Naturally, I followed that passion into catering school in Nice, where I trained for three years before heading off to travel and learn English. That brought me to Jersey for a summer season, followed by winters in the French ski resorts, living the dream.

After three years of this seasonal lifestyle, I was accepted to join the French Pavilion team at Epcot Centre, Disney World in Florida. Anyone who has worked at Disney will tell yo, it’s unforgettable. That year shaped my deep understanding of the magic of customer experience.

Coming full circle: hotel management & mystery shopping

When I returned to a frosty Paris, reality hit hard—literally. A rude waiter throwing cups at us and grumbling about loose change reminded me why I needed to leave again. I moved to England, did the ‘grown-up thing’, got married, and had a beautiful son (who now towers over me and is almost 30!). But when someone commented on my newly acquired Scouse accent, I took that as a sign… and went back to Jersey.

There, I was offered the role of Hotel Manager at the very same hotel where I’d first worked on reception years earlier. Coincidence? Maybe. But all these steps were building the experience that shaped who I am today.

If you’d asked me as a child what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have said “Air Hostess”, but deep down, my real dream was to be a Michelin Guide Inspector. So maybe it’s no surprise that mystery shopping would become my career.

I went on to franchise my mystery shopping business in India, Slovenia, and Guernsey, and personally conducted over 30,000 visits. I’ve educated more than 10,000 employees, spoken on global stages in over 30 countries, and authored four books, two of them Amazon bestsellers.

Credentials that matter—soul and strategy

I’m a Certified NLP and Feng Shui Practitioner, with a Marketing qualification from The Chartered Institute of Marketing. In 2020, I was proud to be named No.1 Woman on the Global Customer eXperience Gurus list. I have served on the board of the Mystery Shopping Professional Association, Virtual Speaker Association International, the Feng Shui Guild, judge global CX awards, and have received the Institute of Directors Small Business Award.

When the world stopped: the fall that fuelled the rise

The pandemic

But my proudest moment came from rising after the hardest fall.

In March 2020, when COVID shut down the world, I lost all my clients in just three days. My speaking engagements, training sessions, and mystery shopping programmes were cancelled.

I had been a single mum for twelve years, and in an instant, I didn’t know how I’d buy food or pay rent. I hit rock bottom. I cried endlessly. One night, both my children came to comfort me, and my daughter gently placed her hand on my head and said, “It’s going to be OK, Mum.”

That night, everything changed.

The 5 steps that changed my life (and now guide my work)

Step 1: Grounding

I started with myself, my energy, mindset, and wellbeing. I walked. I breathed. I began the process of grounding myself in purpose.

Step 2: Align

I looked at what really mattered. I closed my mystery shopping business and revisited my core values: Energy, Care, Community, Service, and Creativity. I realigned my work with what resonated with my essence.

Step 3: Harmonise

I cleared my physical space. I had studied Feng Shui in secret for 15 years, and it was time to bring it into the light. I realised businesses needed this too. That’s how BizShui® was born, a blend of Feng Shui wisdom and business performance.

Step 4: Expand

I launched BizShui, wrote a bestselling book, and began helping others reclaim their joy and energy. But eventually, I felt stuck again, trapped by the limits of my island. I needed space to expand.

The bold move: Dubai

So I left. I sold everything and moved to Dubai with four suitcases and a full heart.

In just one year, I spoke at over 30 conferences across the UAE, India, Asia, and Europe, reaching more than 4,000 people. I stepped fully into my calling as a global keynote speaker and CX Activator.

Coming home with purpose: JCX Alliance

After a year in the sun, I realised what I needed was not more, just deeper. I returned to Jersey with a renewed sense of mission and founded the JCX Alliance, a movement to make customer service one of the top five reasons people choose to live, work, and visit Jersey, one SMILE at a time.

 

Step 5: Radiate - The next evolution...

The JCX Alliance was a beautiful chapter—bringing connection, care, and CX transformation to my beloved island of Jersey. But I know my journey doesn’t end here.

With three decades in business, I know I’m here to do something even bigger. To energise more people and places. To align cultures more deeply. And to help more businesses grow their bottom line—sustainably, soulfully.

So… there’s something stirring. A new level is calling.

Over the next few weeks, things are going to shift.
Deeply. Powerfully. Soulfully.

This Hero’s Journey isn’t over, it’s just entering its next chapter.
